Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.
He saved 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
