Tehran is willing to restart nuclear talks with Washington as long as it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated only diplomacy produced results, and revealed recent overtures had originated from intermediaries to reopen discussions with the Trump administration. Subsequently, European countries used their privilege to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be certain that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the negotiations that Washington's technical specialists could work on Iranian soil, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion.
