The sibling of the Seaside town killer revealed his parents "could not manage" of their child and he was concerned his younger sibling would kill a person of their family, a hearing has learned.

Axel Rudakubana, a teenager, fatally attacked three youngsters at a pop music-inspired dance class on 29 July 2024.

The hearing, held at a civic building, was told the family member the older brother told a friend there was a possibility of his brother "committing an act that could kill."

The inquiry was informed Dion messaged his contact over the Discord messaging app: "The fights are frightening because of the risk of a fatality."

Dion testified his relative reminded him of the violent character in the picture the Coen brothers film.

Increasing Conflict

Proceedings was told he was diagnosed with a medical condition at the early teens which caused him relying on a chair and his family offering greater support.

In response to the lawyer, attorney, if that affected their bond he replied: "Conflict arose that emerged."

The brother agreed his sibling showed bitterness toward this shift.

He testified the inquiry that after the household relocated from Cardiff to Southport his relative's behavior deteriorated and he would have "aggressive episodes."

The hearing learned Dion became "progressively concerned" of his brother, who would hit him regularly.

He said: "I was forced to be wary if I attempted to talk to him because any disagreement could turn into an confrontation."

'Genuine concerns'

Dion revealed his relative became significantly more violent after he was dismissed from Range High School in the local area, in that period.

The sibling departed for higher education in the following period and the two communicated rarely "due to unfamiliarity with having me around."

Proceedings was informed of a message the brother messaged a friend on the platform in which he stated his relative was irritated with him speaking late at night because of the limited soundproofing in their house.

He further revealed to his associate there was a possibility of "his committing an act potentially fatal."

He wrote: "Arguments are scary because of the danger of someone dying."

Mr Boyle questioned: "You had serious fears that your sibling would fatally harm a individual of your family?"

He replied: "If things escalated to that level."

The counsel questioned how his family dealt with the relative's physical conduct.

"There was no point to try and punish him," he stated. "Also, there was a significant danger in doing so.

"We said there was a widespread threat to well-being in casual discussion, if you attempt to challenge him... it could provoke violence."

When Mr Boyle asked if his family had lost control of his relative, he concurred.

Questioned regarding his sibling reminding him of a figure from the movie the Coen brothers film, the brother explained: "It was said that figure's meant to be a dangerous individual and that's why I employed that term there."

He said the previous encounter he had with his brother was in the 2023 summer.

He stated that their mother and father requested the perpetrator to say goodbye to him as he was departing to visit his friends and his relative tossed a container at him but the door had closed before it struck.
